So you're really telling me that 18 routes will be scrapped just like that within the next year. Drivers are gonna be left isolated. The disabled are gonna left uncared for with buses being absolutely packed more than ever. I'm so happy I don't live anywhere near Central London. It's gonna be hell when all this happens. Terrible day for TFL, drivers, people who are local to these routes and bus enthusiasts. Driver would not be left isolated. They would transfer to other routes, many companies have huge vacancies so would be just used to fill them. Some may just have a temporary hold on recruitment, nothing new.

A petition needs to be set up to save every one of these routes from being killed because this is just plain unacceptable to hear and is even worse than pedestrianising Oxford Street and reducing buses from there. Well the petition and local labour council of Hackney did not save the 48 from a Labour mayor.

Overall the most shocking to me is the 148 to Dulwich Library and 388 to Peckham... the 388 must hold the record for the most ever changes!

In my opinion the only routes that might need to be reconsidered are the 12 and 78. The 4 does have a lot of freehold sections it will be interesting to see how these are replaced, if at all. A 4 bph SD route would do good to cover the section between Archway and Finsbury Park. Everything else seems sensible to cut. And the 11 and 14 because they're locals to me and serve very useful places like Chinatown and of course the landmarks of the British capital. If this horrific consultation actually goes ahead, I'm immediately moving away from Chelsea to a new home. To be honest TfL do not care, it is the mayor's political football. I have said it here countless times, Khan has made London 10 times worse and does not even realise it. With the forthcoming ulez expansion because he could not make money from the standard ulez is shocking and pathetic. It is one reason so many people are moving out of London and had enough.

Oh dear. My head was spinning reading all of that. It is going to take a lot of time for me to digest this consultation. It’s absolutely shocking.

I imagine the situation is a bit different to then especially with COVID. All I can say is I’m absolutely shocked by these, the 254 cutback, the 279 diversion, 113/189 diversions! Some of it was leaked before as a few members here have been saying, I read some of it, although at least the joint proposed scrap 254 and extend the 253 to Aldgate did not happen. There was also consideration for the 254 to be axed completely and the 106 extended to Aldgate, but seems to have had a stay of execution.

I am not too sure about the 388 I do wonder about the length and reliability of the route. I wonder how many extra buses it will need? I assume this is one change that won’t happen until the new tender renewal.

So it’s like TfL woke up and wondered “I wonder what part of London are we going to screw up today” 😂 Peckham to Hackney that interesting 🤨 at least they removed the 23 from Hammersmith. We sure didn’t need that. I think that things are going to get worse.

At least the combined 4 minute frequency is retained between Finsbury Park & Hackney, of course a bit different from say the late 90s/early 00s but that definitely matches peak demand nowadays. The 279 is incredibly worrying, do TFL not see the large crowds of people wanting Tottenham from outside Manor House? The 259 surely can’t cope. The 4 change doesn’t surprise me & at least with the 236 does provide an East London link. Would other routes cope to Hackney Wick? I think they should be fine. I’m more worried that the 19 is going to be the sole route leaving Highbury & Islington towards Finsbury Park, that surely can’t cope on its own? Not to mention the 4/19 have quite heavy demand down to Angel. The 189 isn’t that bad, the 113 on the other hand! How can that run reliably. Not to mention the residents living nearby to the A41 lose a link entirely to C London.

I actually felt pretty sad reading that. I've used the 113 for 50 years and that would come to an immediate end with these proposals. Shattering.
I see they still managed to make some mistakes. The main page says 259 to be withdrawn for example, the detiail says otherwise.
Will have to take some time to get my head around the rest when I have recovered from the 113 change.

A new N32 Edgware to Oxford Circus!
I can't even follow half of the night stuff. Does N113 survive in central London when day time it wanders off miles over to White City?! Not sure that is 'simplification' in action.

So in effect the 521 is replaced by the 59 from Waterloo to St Paul's and the 133 from London Bridge to St Paul's then onto Barts.
If the 507 goes DD then that could be a large amount of Electric SDs spare.
If savings are to be made I'm dunstuck by things like the 94/148 and now 113 all Shepherds Bush still and the 49 replacing 72 to East Acton.
