Today, I'm the "Man on the Clapham Omnibus" which I've just discovered was a term first used in a 1903 legal case to describe "an ordinary and reasonable person".

WHAT YOU’LL SEE
From Arriva, New Routemasters on the 137 that’s notable as one of the rare routes operated by two garages. Meanwhile the 50 is operated by a mix of early HVs and the odd HA whilst Norwood operate the 417 with 59 plate Ts and the 249 with hybrid Gemini 3s (HV) that are having a day off from Central London operating the 2. The busiest route (passenger numbers) serving Clapham Common Station, and 13th overall is the 35 operated by Camberwell with a mix of hybrid EH, MHV & WHV. The most notable route currently is the sole single-deck route, the 322 which is one of three ways to travel to Crystal Palace from Clapham Common in addition to 249 and 417. As forum members will be aware the route converted this year to electric Switch Metrocity EVs operated from Abellio’s large QB yard / garage which is only a ten-minute ride away on a 137. Maybe it would be more accurate to say ‘part-converted’ as although the batch of eleven (1001-1011) have all entered service, it’s rare to see more than six on the route at any one time with the PVR made up by those trusty Enviro 200s. Routes terminating at Clapham Common in addition to the 322 (@ The Pavement) are the 88 and 417 at nearby Omnibus Clapham and 249 at the adjacent Clapham Common Old Town stop.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I really like this location, it’s busy but the area feels friendly and there’s something of a feel-good vibe being next to the huge common and nature – maybe it’s just that I have happy memories of British Heart Foundation London-Brighton bike rides that commenced on the south-side of the common. There’s a reasonable mix of operators and types and it’s busyish – on my ‘to do’ list when I’m free are an end 2 end on one of the ‘cute’ Metrocitys on the 322 returning from Crystal Palace on a 417 aboard one of the 12 year old Enviro 400s that Norwood keep in good shape. There’s fast-food and a Sainsbury’s just east on Clapham High Street.

1) By Bus!
2) By Rail – Clapham Common LU (Northern Line) or Clapham High Street LO is an eight minute walk
3) By Car – Sainsbury’s Clapham (almost opposite Clapham Common Station) have a car park for shoppers
