They run all day from London Bridge to Victoria via Streatham Hill? Yes but via Crystal Palace the parliamentary train runs via Tulse Hill and around the Leigham spur - I know it used to be the 10:04 out of London Bridge not sure when it runs these days Not exactly the most reliable source but Wikipedia does list this service via the Leigham spur as a former parliamentary service that ceased to operate after March 2020

ianVisits has written and article about the ending of the Chiltern service from West Ealing, the reason for its withdrawal (and replacement bus) is because the West Ealing-Greenford shuttle is being prepared for battery-electric trial operation. He confirms that the last departure will be from West Ealing at 11.15 on Wednesday 7th December, arriving West Ruislip at 11.34. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/last-chance-to-ride-chilterns-parliamentary-train-58797/For those interested in such things, there does remain one other Parliamentary Train in the London area. On Saturdays, the 05.30 Liverpool Street - Enfield Town is routed via Clapton Junction, Coppermill Junction and the South Tottenham Curve. It passes through, but does not stop at, Clapton and South Tottenham. Dose anyone know who will be running the supposedly temporary replacement bus? I assume it will be Metroline The Rail Replacement bus ran for the first time yesterday (Wednesday 11th January). It was operated by Diamond Bus South East using Wright Streetlite 20179 (BD20 ODV) and carried five enthusiasts, an Arriva rep. (Chiltern Railways is owned by Arriva in case you'd forgotten) and two drivers - one driving, the other pointing out the route. groups.google.com/g/londonstransport/c/3L4zqvNUElgBus & Train User (Roger French) was on it: busandtrainuser.com/2023/01/12/the-quirky-train-thats-now-a-quirky-bus/

Is this replacement bus service really necessary if there are already 2 alternatives that are already available in the form of the GWR/Central Line or E7?

Is this replacement bus service really necessary if there are already 2 alternatives that are already available in the form of the GWR/Central Line or E7? It's not necessary from the point of view that there are alternatives, but it is required due to an archaic law that should have been consigned to the history books many years ago. Roger French's blog explains it.

I understand the archaic law but in theory, could Chiltern instead of having to fund this one service, maybe instead give a bit of money to TfL to ‘hire’ one E7 journey for example.

I don't know, but I suspect not. The real answer is for the DfT to get the law changed. The Government accuses the rail unions of not accepting the need for reform yet won't sort out this nonsense.

But they aren’t legal requirements anymore, it will be a requirement of the franchise instead. I’d imagine when Arriva enter negotiations they may be able to reach an agreement to drop the service depending on usage numbers and what else is available.

When did Metroline takeover operating the parliamentary service between West Ealing and West Ruislip? Just watched a YouTube video about it using a VMH out of PV

Chiltern Railways' 'ghost bus': Is this Britain's most bizarre route? For the past year, a one-way bus service has been running between two places already served by another operator, in order to keep a rail route open.www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67955990

I remember reading somewhere that the Chiltern parliamentary train to West Ealing will return once the battery trains are up and running on the Greenford branch.
