Cornwall Council is spending significant sums of money on a project described by many as "vanity" and by others as "wanton fantasy"
The potential inclusion of additional stations along the Cornish main line at tramway spacings begs the degree of understanding by those responsible of the role and function of a main line railway. There remains no credible business case for a hugely indirect service between Falmouth and Newquay via Par.
The infrastructure is unable to accept any additional services (nor can the Falmouth branch take longer ones) meaning this operation will be restricted to half-hourly 2-car trains at best. Major reinstatement of long-lost infrastructure on the Newquay line will be needed to support even an hourly service welcome though this might be in that area.
It might be fair to say that despite the money being spent on glossy promotions this project does not enjoy wide support at all.

“Vanity,” “Wanton Fantasy,” and “tramway spacing.” So what are your sources?
