The PVR of JL2 is quite high, there's also MHV7, E12, E101. These are the garages that typically release buses for GTR rail replacement, but now will operate on TfL contracts(although TUK will and has called upon them for some GTR work) as they've lost the GTR contract due to some new rule introduced about tendering contracts out to in-house operators. (GTR is a GoAhead subsidiary) Go-Ahead didn’t lose the GTR contract because of some new rule introduced as you put it - they bid and were beaten on price by TUK Not directly, but it influenced the price put in, if i remember correctly the same has happened up north with a TUK train subsidiary and Travel Connect, I believe they lost it to Stagecoach

What an appaling service yesterday provided by TUK. I and others stood at Balham for 1 hour and not a single bus or coach turned up heading in the direction of East Croydon when there should have been one every 10-12 minutes or so. In that period we had three coaches pass by heading for Clapham Junction oddly on opposite sides of the road. Whilst at the bus stop I saw one coach sail down Balham High Road heading in the direction of Streatham that obviously bypassed our stop - perhaps the driver felt they couldn't manage the left turn onto the narrow Balham Station Road. At least with GAL there would have been a member of GAL staff at several points during the route including Balham. Under GAL I had never such a gap in the service, the managed to keep the buses running pretty much to timetable give or take a few minutes. Who should I complain to?

I think TUK use their subsidiaries London Rail Replacement and Travel Connect for rail replacement but not 100% sure. I can't find any contact details for the former. You could take it up with the social team of Southern on Twitter and see if they will pass it on.

Complain to Southern, totally unacceptable. I think GAL generally did a good job on rail replacement services.

Thanks, I have sent an email to Southern and also found an email address for TUK/Abellio.
I thought South Western rail replacement was bad (First Transport Solutions?) but nothing compares to this. Its my hunch that the 12m coaches found it too difficult to manage the narrow left turn off Balham High Road on to Balham Station Road. The 10.1m E200s on the 255 manages it but it is tight and often there are parked cars on a Sunday meaning two already narrow lanes are reduced to one. That would explain at least one coach sailing down the high street and continuing onto Streatham. I cannot believe that not a single bus/coach was dispatched from CJ for a whole hour - the traffic wasn't that bad - so the next obvious explanation is multiple drivers skipping (difficult) stops.

The paperwork given to operators specifically told them to stop at stop B on the main road (A24) in both directions, therefore bypassing the bus stop on Balham Station Road where people would be waiting. I had a bus out all day on the route and called in at Balham Station Road where there were angry passengers waiting.

The poster stuck on Balham railway station window also said stop J on Balham Station Road and the station staff were directing people to it.
It seems some drivers familiar with the usual setup like you knew that stop J was the "normal" designated stop despite the incorrect paperwork given to them as we did have a couple of Redwing and Passenger Plus coaches come past although sadly all heading in the opposite direction I wanted to go in.

You should see some of their attempts at RRS on outer Southern services recently. The Ashford - Rye service had two buses on, both of which were meant to be stand-bys. Also been told by some local operators that rates available are far lower than before so they're throwing work back. Moz What an appaling service yesterday provided by TUK.
