Ipswich Buses has repainted Scania OmniDekka no. 29 into a heritage-inspired livery, to mark the 120th anniversary of Council-owned operation in the town. The Corporation took over the town's tram system and operated electric trams from 23rd July 1903. The trams were converted to trolleybus between 1924 and 1926 and the Corporation remained exclusively electric, until 1950 when six AEC Regent motorbuses were bought to initiate a new route to the new White House estate. The trolleybuses were then phased out, with the last ones operating in August 1963 - eight of the newest vehicles were sold to Walsall Corporation for further service. Following deregulation in 1986 the company was restructured as an arms-length operator, but is still 100% owned by the Council - one of the few remaining municipal operators in the UK. No. 29 was originally SP112 (YT59 FYT) in the London United fleet and is a recent acquisition for Ipswich Buses. The livery is based loosely on a typical 1930s Ransome trolleybus with green and cream, and silver between decks as a nod to the polished aluminium that was a feature of many Ipswich trolleybuses. The bus carries commemorative lettering, and a heritage-style fleetnumber on the front. Many Ipswich vehicles have carried names over the years, and no. 29 has been christened "Elizabeth", after the late Queen. No. 29 will be used on a variety of routes in and around Ipswich, and will feature at the 120th Anniversary celebrations in July 2023 - there will be a special event at the Ipswich Transport Museum on 23rd July. www.ipswichbuses.co.uk/news/120-years/ Photo of Ipswich Buses 29 (not mine): flic.kr/p/2os27uKPhoto as London united SP112 (not mine): flic.kr/p/SyYw8Y

How does the tendering work for the Park&Ride in Ipswich? Is it still tendered or is it just a First operation now? Can't find much information online.

Makes sense. Any idea what the timescales of the contracts are? I guess things are not as transparent as tfl.

Ipswich Buses made minor timetable changes to routes 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 15/15A, 93/X93 and 97 from Sunday 3rd September. Ipswich Reds (First) also made minor timetable changes to routes 70/70A and 73 on schoodays.
The evening and Sunday journeys on routes 13 and 15/15A now follow the regular route via Princes Street and no longer operate via Cardinal Park, as few passengers have been using the stops there. The St Clare House stops on Princes Street are less than five minutes walk away.
The X93 positioning journeys no longer operate via Colchester General Hospital.
