Most 108s I see either go through the 202 stand or if it's full they carry on and do a U turn, very awkward serving that stop from the inner turn. The 108 drivers some do have poor driving standards I’m sorry to say. I have done Route 335 numerous times and have experienced a 108 use the tighter turn and cut up other traffic. A 108 expected me to give way once at that stop as I was pulling out, made him wait for being so forceful. The official place to do the turn at Blackheath, Royal Standard for Routes 108 286 335 to serve the bus stop is actually beyond the 202 stand wide enough for large vehicles. The inner turn should really only be used by Route 386. I either use Route 202 stand or the outer turn. I have never used the inner turn . So not only do GAL not give a shite about the passengers, they don't give a shite about other road users as well. Corporate greed in the extreme.

He was talking about the 108 not the whole of Go-Ahead. Go-Ahead on my local routes are perfectly fine as an operator and that’s despite having the odd issues in the past

In my area we have services operated by Abellio, Arriva, Stagcoach and GAL. Dont have any issue with the first 3. I would say that over the past 15 years, GAL have accounted for about 80% of my failure to stop incidents, when they supply about 10% of the services I have used. Their service is not good enough in my opinion.

Go-Ahead on my local routes are perfectly fine as an operator and that’s despite having the odd issues in the past The outer turn (outside the Newbridge club) is very tight for a Citaro and I have no idea what they were thinking when they changed the road layout. The 108 and 108b used to make that turn until about 1978 when they moved to a separate stop and it was bad enough in DMSs and Swifts. I can fully understand why most drivers try to avoid it and use the 202 stand to make the turn, and why they are tempted by the inner turn.

Exactly, I remember the 109 (and 250) under TH had abysmal drivers, very rude and were quite shoddy with their driving and when that route moved onto BN, it seemed to take the bad ones with it as I started to get much nicer drivers on the 250 afterwards.

We've had this on here before with Abellio where West Londoners would berate the entire Abellio operation even though over here, I've never had much issue with it bar the 157 which they were hopeless with. No London operator is wholly bad, all have their issue which I can accept but there isn't a terrible one

And to be fair just after this I witnessed a near miss at Blackheath royal standard. I was behind a southbound 108 which in turn was behind a southbound 335 (to be honest the 108 should have waited as I was already on the roundabout having come up stratheden road). If you know the royal standard roundabout, the DDs southbound typically drive through the 202 stand as that’s easier - the inner turn is a touch tight for DDs and potentially even for the single deckers; plus it gets difficult to serve the southbound royal standard bus stop that way ). The 335 went through the 202 stand which was correct - the 108 on the other hand went through the inner turn, mounted a bit of the divider in order to serve the bus stop and came very very close to a collision with the 335 which by now had been overtaken. The 335 had been duly slowing down to serve the stop and the 108 just came out ahead - good of the 335 driver to notice and jump on his breaks (I was right behind the 108 so got a ringside view!) Buses on the 108, 286 and 335 are supposed to continue past the 202 stand and then turn at the point of the one way system so that they can easily serve the bus stop.

There’s always a bell curve (some routes do well, some are average, some are horrible). The bigger the sample size the closer it is to a proper bell curve. Now there might be skews etc but depends on where you are and so on - it might be that the routes in your area are on the far left side of the curve so necessitating a poor experience for you - but overall it might be ok. I have overall had a good experience with Go ahead (and with others as well!) - there are always some bugbears though
