Yeah thats a good shout or even run via Balham Park Road & St James Road. Still, there is a lot right with the idea in general so I won’t be too hard on them You could turn out of Glenburnie Road onto Trinity Road, then along St James Road to Wandsworth Common then along Nightingale Lane hen down to Balham from Clapham South as opposed to down to Tooting Bec. A compromise to that could be to turn right from Glenburnie Road into Beechcroft Road, left Upper Tooting Road (for Tooting Bec Station) left Trinity Road, right Saint James Drive, right Balham Park Road and left Balham High Road to Balham. Having suggested that all the optional ideas of using more residential roads comes with it the increased possibility of residential objections, which was once a long standing case with the proposed 255 extension beyond Streatham Hill to Balham. With TfL's present proposal I imagine general objections will be more minimal.

The G1’s frequency is (understandably) pathetic, so the 315 should hopefully help local people and hospital visitors in that regard. I’ve been in Clapham South and Wandsworth Common a few times and unable to use the G1 as the next bus being 24 minutes away makes the 155 or 319 faster even with traffic and crowding. In that case 315's frequency is even more pathetic, since G1 is on-paper every 15 whilst the 315 is every 20 on-paper. Granted, the 315 is more reliable than G1 since it has a lot less troubles to go through and is less than half the length of G1, though in the possible event of a hiccup there will still be bunching on the 315 currently, not taking an extra 15 minute or so extension on top of that.

I do think the 315 should be at every 15 minutes by now, would make it an attractive alternative to the G1 and help relieve the G1's busy loads at the same time with a quicker routing for Streatham passengers

Now at least if someone in the area wanted to go shopping for example and the G1 is ages away there’s a chance of catching the 315 and going down to Balham instead, and vice versa for the G1 and Tooting.

I'm mostly in favour of this though I do think it's a little wasteful to simply run direct via Balham High Road rather than take the opportunity to bring one or two other back roads into the equation. Upper Tooting Park (where the 249 used to stand) may have been a good one for the 315 to use. Running it along Upper Tooting Park Road would avoid it being held up by traffic around Tooting Bec Station. The stand on Upper Tooting Park Road is occasionally used by 319s that are turned round early so that road is already cleared for bus usage. Those who object to the small bit of Balham High Road missed out can catch the 315 and get off at Trinity Road then walk to the junction and catch one of the plentiful 155, 249 or 355.

Between 6 March and 16 April 2023, we consulted on proposals to extend bus route 315 from Balham Station to the new development at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting. We have now completed our analysis of the consultation responses and are able to publish our report which you can find here: haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/route-315. Following careful consideration of all the feedback we received to the consultation, we have decided to proceed with our proposal to extend route 315 to Springfield Hospital. Details of the additional bus stops are still subject to discussions with officers from the London Borough of Wandsworth. We intend to introduce this change at a date to be confirmed, subject to funding and the provision of supporting infrastructure. The main issues raised during the consultation and our responses to them as well as other frequently raised issues can be found in the consultation report. Our response to these matters and other frequently raised issues can be found in Appendix A of the consultation report.

Looks like a useful extension that accords with TfL's aim to improve public transport links to hospitals. One minor point needs to be corrected by TfL in the consultation as they have unintentionally created a hybrid member of the post war 1945-51 Labour cabinet. In the written text there are several mentions of Ernest Bevan School. The map correctly names the school as Ernest Bevin School. Two giants of post war Labour politics had similar names. Ernest Bevin was a Londoner who served as Foreign Secretary. Anuerin Bevan was the charismatic Welsh man who set up the NHS in 1948.

Any update regarding the extension? TfL have to wait until after purdah finishes, which is when the new Mayor is declared elected, before making any announcements about new projects and services. So possibly there will be a rush of announcements in the next week or so, to clear the backlog.
