Shops in Jevington Way won't be happy about losing bus 273 but it only take 5-10 minutes to walk up/down to new bus stop closer.
ah, I realize that few shops have now changed into homes/flats instead. So there is no point for bus 273 will stop there anymore unless local home people still want bus 273 to stay via Jevington way.

Personal interest - I often use this service when visiting an elderly relative (who uses the route more often) and mixed feelings.
The point of a route like 273 is not to get from end to end as quickly as possible (very few London bus routes cater for many end to end journeys, but routes like this don't try to cater for journeys from - say - Lewisham to Grove Park.) The point of routes like this is to get closer to peoples' homes. Although in the case of Jevington Way, I'm aware that it can be difficult due to the number of parked cars, and it only takes one delivery van to block it completely. I'm not sure many people would have used the 273 to get to / from the local shops on Jevington Way, to be honest.
Mixed feelings about fixed stops - the current drivers vary in what points they will stop at (this can depend on where cars are parked on any particular day, but it's not just down to that) so on one hand having fixed stops will be at least more predictable, but wonder if the proposed stops are too far apart. Theory may say that a walk distance of X to a bus stop is acceptable, but from my observations, quite a high proportion of users of 'back road' services like this are elderly / infirm.
And of course there's the difficulty that when TFL (or local authorities) try to locate a new bus stop outside residential properties, the resident/s there tend to make a fuss...

Looking to this proposal. Jevington Way removal is another R7 situation…
As for fixed bus stops they have been trying to do this for years across the whole route… Lewisham to Lee section via Hither Green was the only accomplished section.

And there's a few points between Hither Green and Lee that some drivers will stop at, including Manor Lane where there's no westbound stop, but again it's unpredictable.
I really must get on and respond to this before Sunday's deadline.

From TfL upcoming:
Changes to buses from Saturday 6 April 2024:
Route 273 will be rerouted in both directions via Winn Road and Exford Road to Burnt Ash Hill. Jevington Way and Senlac Road will no longer be served. This is due to issues with parked vehicles causing issues to buses.
