IC1 your incident on the 229 reminds me of when I was at BX. One week a woman was beaten senseless on the upstairs of a 229, (NV no cctv) in the same week a few windows were badly etched on the 422s.BX management.. "No NVs to go out on the 422" unbelievable but true.

I'm going to speak to the union on Friday about making an official complaint and if the worse comes to the worse, then I'll look for a job where I feel I have the full support of the 'management', at the end of the day we are the ones that are in the fireing line day in day out and a bit of support from those that are (supposed to be) in charge wouldn't go amiss Thinking of leaving London bus driving completely then??!?!?! Mind you having said that I dont have a very high opinion of the management at DT but they are not as bad as BX from what i've learned from your comments If needs be then yes strangely I enjoy my job hence the Having had a little sleep on it, I've thought is it worth complaing? all that will do is mark me down as a bad apple and leave them looking for an excuse to get rid, in te present climate at work where we are overstaffed I don't think rocking the boat is a good idea Let's just say the CV is being updated

Sorry to hear that you have had a bad time. I believe a colleague has an interview for BX on the 17th maybe he will think again. Don't make any hasty decisions - but by what you are saying you won't. My Uncle finished at BX on Saturday he has sent me a pic of him on PVL 49 on the 422 Thinking of leaving London bus driving completely then??!?!?!

There is nothing that you did wrong, and the manager had no right to say what he said at all.
And they dare sack someone just because they complained - unbelievable - I thought there was more justice in this country!

The thing is they would be clever and not sack me for that, they would find a way, i.e get Inspectors to spy on me to catch me running early, when leave a termini late will start going on about failing to maintain , get DMI's out every week etc...... trust me if a company wants you out they will find a way. Beaver, don't let my experience put your colleague off, if it wasn't for the really good colleagues I have at BX I would have left long ago, yes we have banter, yes theres arguments but at the end of the day 99.9% of the drivers are a really friendly bunch and help each other out, and MOST of the controllers are alright who you can have a laugh and a joke with, although I think there is becoming a them and us situation with the managers.

Don't misunderstand me I'm not saying your at fault because i don't think you are but is it worth making management "aware" of you. It's very stongly denied at but i KNOW there is a "hit list" at DT of so called trouble makers they want rid of and thay are always looking for an excuse. I know how you've been treated it poo but don't make yourself a target dude

The person concerned used to work at BX a while ago (no not ETB BV) and I dare say that things have changed a bit since then good and bad and I think he has just had a bad time where he is but I have said don't make any rush decisions - sometimes the grass looks greener aand all that (if only I took my own advice) There is nothing that you did wrong, and the manager had no right to say what he said at all. Not too surprised about how the company has taken your incident but a bit surprised that the manager said that to you. I really am confused about checking for passes not just for kids. I recall one inspector who came on my bus, he used to drive buses in merton, and he told me that I could get reported for letting a passenger on without a valid pass. He caught a passenger on my bus and said he would let me off as he knew me from merton. But I have heard similar stories like yours and how managers always told drivers not to bother with checking passes. I just baffled by it all. Also annoyed me was about that person came on to your bus and starting banging without even realising what was going on?! It saddens me how people always accuse the bus driver of something. If you have an accident or some incident, people always blame you even though it wasn't your fault.

All I want to do is my job with the knowledge that my efforts are appreciated by those in charge.

The only thing i could say is 'tread carefully' especailly as BX is a wee bit overstaffed at the moment.
TBH, though just because you've reported the Manager shouldnt make you a target in any way, the basis of any organisation is that everyone gets treated fairly and in my opinion what he said to you was wrong and uncalled for.
Ive put in various reports for silly things, like fare evasion and arguments with motorists etc and never had the manager concerned say anything negative about me filing the reports. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but in all esscence he should'nt have said that.

The nice thing is though is if the worst comes to the worst with a pcv you can always go elsewhere. Don't misunderstand me I'm not saying your at fault because i don't think you are but is it worth making management "aware" of you.
