I went down to Waterloo the other day to see them, and I noticed they are in an all over leaves livery, like on the HDE's, albeit with a new design Yeah, I just saw a pic from Twitter of the rear of one of the BYD's - wonder why they have the leaves?

Probably another new TfL Coporate programme or something

Having seen the photo now those "leaves" are larger versions of the new "clean air" logo that is on some hybrids and on the Barking Stagecoach buses using Bio-fuel. I guess TfL wish to "promote" these buses a bit more strongly when they're driving around Central London.

I think the answer is that 4 are the Metrocities expected for suburban routes while the 2 are the double decker almost all electric buses which are scheduled for a route running through the City (I'd guess at the 149) to London Bridge. The latter 2 buses are part of a wider demonstration project involving several cities rather than just a TfL / Mayoral air quality initiative.

Nice looking bus, but a disappointment that the original LED blinds it was delivered with were replaced with old-skool Tyvek.. the livery is nice

Tyvek doesn't work with power blinds and polyester provides superior illumination. I don't understand why some London operators still order Tyvek for their manual blinds.

An article in the latest Bus and Coach buyer "virtual magazine" about the BYD electric buses mentions that the 4 electric Metrocities due next year will run on the H98 based at Hounslow Garage.
It also says that TfL expect to have around a dozen all electric buses in service by the end of 2014. This leaves room for 4 (or so) more on top of the 8 we know about - 2 BYDs, 4 Metrocities, 2 to be confirmed all electric double deckers.
