Having dug through the archives, I have merged the existing buses on loan thread and the new one. Please continue to use this thread for its intended purpose and thank you for those of you that have mentioned the existence of the existing thread! Most queries seem to be of the ilk: "Where's it gone?/what's happened to it?" When I was a kid in the '50's, we knew where it had come from. When garage codes and running numbers used metal stencil plates, there was a way to identify the 'parent' garage. Above the outside of the drivers cab was a little plate with the 'parent' garage code painted on.(See the attached photo, not mine) I noticed there were regular 'loans' between SW and CA, and the handiest of the lot for operational purposes was Q and WL Obviously when garage codes were painted on, this little bit of history died. View AttachmentSomething I recall from the 80's was if a bus was loaned to another garage, often the running number would be placed over the garage code.

When I was an Inspector at Palmers Green, they used to borrow I think 3 RM's from Wood Green for the 29's as the Saturday requirement was greater than the Monday to Friday
