So the rumour that the Cl700 had failed the UK cab crash resistance test is probably not true if they're going to test them on the real network not test tracks!?

It's no rumour, latest rumblings I've heard is that the 700's have potentially failed their resistance test as the canal tunnels which link GN to TL via the core, as single bore tunnels and they require doors on the front of the cabs ala the class 313's or 378.

Apparently a third of the bodyshells have already been built, unsure of what is due to happen to the 700's currently in the UK at Three Bridges. It's all gone very quiet after the grand opening of the new depot mind you. We on the GN side are unsure of what will replace the 313's on the inners in a few years.

The Great Northern class 313's are to be replaced with new 6-car units (2018 I heard), although this is yet to go out to tender. The Southern (Coastway) 313s are not yet being replaced.

Nothing. Mwahahaha . We've resigned ourselves to the fact that we will never get new trains

Are you sure it's not out to tender? I thought it was - just that GTR have been very, very quiet about it and will probably remain so until they've got to the point of placing the order. They have to get a move on because they've got about 3 years before they're needed and if a new train design is chosen then there are all the approval issues to deal with.

According to some of my colleagues a manufacturer announcement is due for Spring 2016, in relation to the new stock for the GN inners. Everything is very quiet, not much optimism is intact whether the NCL will receive it's new stock to march the contract specification of 2018.
Many rumours floating around GN regarding stock atm

Many rumours floating around GN regarding stock atm Other rumours floating around too about the entire franchise and if it will last. While I can understand why the DfT put such a large franchise together, given the future shape of Thameslink, you have to wonder if it is just too big and too diverse to be run well.

Sorry snoggle for the late reply; Well that's the biggest rumour in the company, morale is down. Ballot has gone out across TSGN for Customer Services and RPO's who are with the RMT, such as myself. I have asked many of my colleagues whom they preferred working for WAGN (in some places)*, First Capital Connect or Govia. Obviously, I can't state my entire views on a public forum. I personally feel that the franchise is too big. I started in the summer and omnishambles is a delightful way of putting things. GN or FCC where based at Hertford House, under the merger, GN/TL have moved to Knolly's house, Croydon. When i went to chase up a contract issue, the existing SN staff where unaware of the New TL/GN staff that worked alongside them for a number of weeks. Having had this same conversation with a colleague yesterday, Many people can also see why the DFT have awarded such a large franchise, as you rightly stated to front The Thameslink Project, despite minor hick ups testing is underway with the new 700’s between Three Bridges Up Depot - Brighton and if anybody wants to capture them between Three Bridges and Brighton, the head codes are usually 5Z70-5Z74. This week has also seen the 700’s venture up to Blackfriars, under the head codes 5X80-5X83. But if all goes to plan next week should see the 700’s venture through the core and test on the MML. I feel that the TLP could go very wrong very quickly, if disruption occurs south of the core. it’ll obviously affect through Bedford/Luton services as well as services via Canal Tunnels, GN drivers may have to sign down to ECR in case of no TL driver available (late or misplaced) - as a result of the disruption, it’s good contingency plans have been implemented but whether they’ll be executed efficiently is another thing. I do think the operational surface area of TSGN is too large and that Govia have too much on their plate, especially whilst attempting to meet contract fulfilment’s, I do know that Govia have to pay a crippling fine to the government in Q1 of 2016 and now claim they have money… Ultimately, i would be never surprised if Govia remained until 2021. I wouldn’t mind First returning for another stint but it’s very murky at the moment.

Small update for this week as previously stated a Class 700, 700106 has been testing under AC power over the last couple of days, It doesn't appear to be testing tonight but it leaves Cricklewood Depot at approximately 23:11 as headcode 5W82, runs on the Up Slow and reverses in Kentish Town Platform 4, where it's timetabled to dwell in the platform for 14 minutes, but last night it was pretty much in and out.
The 700 testing on the MML run under headcodes 5W82-5W84 at the moment.
