Simple, withdraw the 80, 93 and 293. If they don't want bus garages, then there is no bus services without them. I hope Merton's planning committee does the right thing instead of just listening to the loudest voices.

I love one person say for this one: "God knows what noise you are expecting from a silent electric bus. I lived next to Sutton bus garage for 13 years. Never heard a thing." That comment make me smile :-)

What makes me laugh about this. These residents live in an industrial estate.

The residents who do like it should just put up with it or move house. No one could say a thing about KB Clarkes Coaches was there before Stagecoach!

I would have a lot of sympathy if the garage was being built in an entirely residential area, but can anyone really complain about a garage being built on an industrial estate.
Also very interesting the article mentions the 80, 118 and 157. I would've thought the 93 and 413 would have been the most obvious choices to move there.

Love The opening paragraph…
“Morden residents are incensed after discovering plans for a new electric bus depot to be built next to a row of houses. The plans for Garth Road, submitted by the Go Ahead group, could see up to 43 buses housed in a depot that will sit opposite a busy refuse and recycling centre.”
So doesn’t a Refuse and Recycling Centre create noise too?

It will be interesting to know if Garth Road garage (when it hopefully gets the go ahead and opens) how much it can hold. It would be a perfect depot for route 293.

I think that might be wrong because the combined PVRs of route 80, 118 and 157 is higher than that figure of 43. It seems to be the TVR of the 118, 157 and part electric allocation of the 80, so presumably the garage can hold a few more hybrids/diesels to account for the part hybrid allocation on the 80. All of the information also assumes Go-Ahead retain the 118, if they lose the route then another route will have to be chosen instead.

Ah, I forgot that route 80 is not fully electric for this contract. Thanks for the reminder. I’m sure Go-Ahead would factor in potential new gains with the acquisition of this new garage though.

Surely this alone is enough evidence that the residents are just creating trouble for no reason. (Right click and open the image in a new tab)
