and I thought the 229 was such a lovely route (joke) the 180 or scum 80 some call it was none too cleaver on saturday apart from the bad traffic one bloke asked me to get off the bus and fight him as I moved off from the stop and he was still upstairs coming down to get off. Must admit my fault bit sharp to move off but pulled up straight away and apologised then got a load of abuse!!!! I know that Cluckingbell (we her computer is fixed) will tell me what a great route it is - well she does have more experience than me!!!!! its just as bad at BX, especially where plating up is concerned, the other week i was on the 89, my bus was behind a 486, nothing unsusal except that i was due out before the 486 was!! I had that not long after I had started and to make it even better I hadn't been type trained on the MD's and didn't have a clue how to start them, had to go and get an engineer and get him to move the bus ;D The run out inspector wasn't best pleased with having to start me at Blackheath rather than Lewisham I got called a F****** liar on Sunday because I turned at Bexley Village on the 229, passenger reckons I hadn't been showing Bexley Village when she got on at Bexleyheath, that was until I got backed up by another passenger

TBH I like the 229, normally get no real trouble apart from kids kicking out of school time. Anyway today's rant, Why do the Old Bill ignore you when you flash them and sound your assualt alarm at them Had a fare dispute on the N89 this morning and was on the radio to Centrecomm requesting Police when I saw a Police Car coming the other way flashed and sounded assualt Alarm but he still went speeding past Luckily I had an off duty Policeman on board and he took it upon himsef to sort the problem, he wasn't impressed with the car's attitude either and took the number down (I think someone might be making a complaint ;D) On a brighter note I got told what a lovely Bus Driver I was by about 4 young Ladies at Trafalgar Square, they got on and asked to pay, I advised them they needed to use the machine as I couldn't accept their money, they was worried I wouldn't wait for them so I told them that it wasn't a problem and I would wait for however long it took them (what they don't know is we are supposed to sit at the stop at Trafalgar Square for 5 minutes ;D) Oh how I love night bus work, it's so easy to get compliments

Was they blind either tat or they must have ben SERIOUSLY drunk ;D The night bus drivers have been given the OK to bump the Venue stop, IF there is cars parked in the stop and they are unable to get on the stop then they have ben told they MUST go to the next stop (This applies to ALL stops and routes) as by stopping in the middle of the road would block Emergency vehicles. Good luck with the 486, your not the first on here to drive one in service though

Well the 486's went ok,nearly broke down twice (poxy plug doors) but fortunately the reset procedure was fixing things. Oh and i had a front blind unit with a mind of its own as well. Apart from that t'was a good experience!!

I have to admit I love the 180's, personally the passengers I pick up are nice to me. Maybe its not the scum passengers, maybe its our drivers and I thought the 229 was such a lovely route (joke) the 180 or scum 80 some call it was none too cleaver on saturday apart from the bad traffic one bloke asked me to get off the bus and fight him as I moved off from the stop and he was still upstairs coming down to get off. Time to breath new life into this thread Jobsworth "Controller's" Now it's School Holiday's, EVERYONE knows that buses will run early, especially during the lighter morning rush hour, so why do they take it upon themselves to have a go at drivers that are 3 minutes early, FFS most of our Controller's wouldn't even waste their breath for 3 minutes during School time, let alone in the holidays Thank god I'm back on lates tomorrow (well later today now ) and nights over the weekend, apparently we have a newbie on the night buses on Friday who's my leader so it's looking like I'll get an easy night don't worry Egg I'll overtake you eventually (Aldwych going towards the Square sounds like a good place to me ;D)

3 early, i got a written warning for 3 early. Well I was done by 2 QSI's on the same day, same route, same f***ing TRIP!!! I suppose being booked for 5 early earlier in the year didnt help either.
Its because theyve not got nothing to do, theres not traffic, no buses are getting turned so they call up all the 'early runners' and give them a b****cking!!
As for the weekend, I'll be taking the cannon street route fella, so i'll be in front of you on the second one let alone the first!!!!!
and on saturday expect some donuts in eltham high street ;D ;D

Are there any bus operators in London that do not use controllers, and just allow drivers to drive the bus from end to end without having to check their timecards all the time?

I got talking to a bus driver in Belfast a few months ago...
...Translink Belfast adopted a new way of running their routes early last year, but scrapped it after five months (reason unknown).
A controller would stand at the bus terminus at City Hall, and either instruct a bus to depart every ten minutes or so, or when the bus stop got busy with intending passengers, just send another one out. The driver would then drive to the other end of the route, have a 'ten minute breather', then return to rank up in Belfast Town Centre again and await further intructions.
- No Time Cards - Impossible to get booked for running early
The only downside, apparently, was you never knew what time you were finishing. You did a roughly worked out 7hr shift - when you neared the end of your working day, the controller would instruct you to return to the depot and sign off/pay in as we do.
Does anyone think this sort of system would work in London?
I suppose the main problem would be where to park the buses while waiting, without causing too much disruption.

Any routes out of grays!! I route learned the 346 once and the driver was telling me they just miss rounders if they feel like it! No body ever bothers recording it
