We lambast TfL for their bad ideas, of which there have been a heck of lot over that last few years. So we should also be quick to give positive feedback when they do something right, in the spirit of fairness. This however in my opinion is one of the excellent ones. I do appreciate what you are saying but I can’t help be sceptical about the timing of the consultation and it being an election year. Any new route is a bonus and I am not trying to knock TfL but it’s just the timing 😜

I think this will create some new useful night links, but I'm not sure if paralleling the N18 is the best way of doing so?
At the Ruislip end, I think extending the N7 might work better, as this would also connect to the night tube at weekends at Northolt.
For the areas in between, a night service based on the 487 could work, which would also improve night links to places like Alperton and Park Royal.
I do think though that part of the N518 could work really well as a day route to provide some new links, perhaps operating between Ruislip and Wembley. Maybe a review of the 398/487/H17/etc could allow this to be introduced?

I am overall supportive (although live on the other end of London!). Maybe this is a temporary number to start with and they may have some other final number Would an N114 be too off the chart? I think this may be the start of a new night network. The number fits in with the pattern of the N550/551 and I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see the N5, N20 and N97 renumbered with in the 5 series to fit. Seems to fit with temp routes now being numbered in the 700 series instead of 500 as they used to be. Would be a pointless exercise to renumber N5 N20 & N97 these numbers I doubt would be used for there day routes. The Superloop was a different thing.

But they are not really frozen unless you just use the bus/tram or the occasional tube. Multimode travel is not being frozen, use Underground and Bus your Travel card will be going up for a wholly TfL journey. It is another Khan spin con. It is another of those let's kick South Londoners in the teeth again

It’s dirty politics and just shameful to claim it has nothing to do with it being an election year.

Not from the area at all so this is more out of curiosity, does the Trafalgar Sq to Barham Park Roundabout section really need 2 night buses? On a weekend night that’s 8 buses per hour on that stretch?

Nothing Help on N9 at all? oh well
N518 is ok to support on N18 which is good but I heard route 18 was still a problem ongoing with passengers. It really should have other local daytime routes to help out on route 18 part of the section.

Yea because a 10p saving is really going to help the everyday person! It’s pathetic and most people seem to have seen through it.

It’s good that they are reviewing something that was discussed as long ago as 2012/13, even if the withdrawal of the weekend night service on route 114 has made things more urgent. Incidentally will we get a consultation on the withdrawal of the weekend night service on route 114 now?
The x15min weekend frequency all the way to Ruislip is amazingly generous, I can’t believe that will be commercially viable beyond Sudbury.

The N7 was supposed to gain a Rayners Lane extension years ago wasn’t it? Doesn’t this touch the north end of that extension in a way?
I think this route is a good idea. It touches many areas planning for development or going through development. The N18 does absolutely suffer on nights and the Sudbury shorts could certainly be used differently. Maybe the route could have been better going via the 92 between Barnham Park and Sudbury Hill?
Playing devils advocate here and creating discussion?

Not from the area at all so this is more out of curiosity, does the Trafalgar Sq to Barham Park Roundabout section really need 2 night buses? On a weekend night that’s 8 buses per hour on that stretch? It is a very heavily used daytime bus corridor serving low income communities so I imagine that the demand probably is there at night. Meanwhile the daytime route 18 is under fire today on BBC news from Ben Bradshaw MP, perhaps due to overcrowding or just very tight timings by RATP: www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c97227d6d0qoWere these two things just coincidence or did the MP know the consultation launch date and rain on TfL’s parade?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Khans vastly bloated media team gave him a message.

So the N18 will be withdrawn and replaced with this? It will running alongside it.
