This is a most interesting proposal....

They might as well make a day 518 to run alongside the 18. Possibly ending it at Wembley Central.

I think another idea is 518 becoming Ruislip <-> Wembley, via the line of route shown on the map, with the 719 (Wembley Park <-> Queens Park, currently a Bakerloo Line/London Overground replacement) becoming an all stops, regular route.

So they are about to get rid of number 549 and now come up with N518… This number is going to look ugly on blinds. Other than that this looks good, someone was complaining a few months ago about no night buses in Ruislip.

We lambast TfL for their bad ideas, of which there have been a heck of lot over that last few years. So we should also be quick to give positive feedback when they do something right, in the spirit of fairness.
This however in my opinion is one of the excellent ones.

I’m not local, so take what I say with a pinch of salt, but it does look to fill a gaping great hole in London’s night bus network, which can surely only be a good thing. I think this might be @cobo land, so it will be interesting to see what he thinks of this.

So the N18 will be withdrawn and replaced with this?

I am overall supportive (although live on the other end of London!). Maybe this is a temporary number to start with and they may have some other final number
Would an N114 be too off the chart?

N518 is an out there number but basically a offshoot of N18 so makes sense , wonder if it will be on the same contract as it's basically a branch like the old Night Routes used to have 20 odd years ago until "simplicity" killed them off , mad to think 20 years ago the N25 used to run to Hainault and Harold Hill with 82 mins run time Oxford Circ to Harold Hill 😮 which wasn't doable then (especially on a weekend )

So the Sudbury shorts on the N18 will essentially turn into the N518, mostly positive changes. Another member did say a few months ago that the N18 needed its frequency increased through to Harrow, though it's tricky when the N140 already parallels between the town centre and Harrow Weald. Still, a combined 8bph on weekends from the N18 & N518 between Trafalgar Square and Wembley will be welcomed. I'm sure northlondon83 will approve of a night route finally making its way into Ruislip.

I think this may be the start of a new night network. The number fits in with the pattern of the N550/551 and I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see the N5, N20 and N97 renumbered with in the 5 series to fit. Seems to fit with temp routes now being numbered in the 700 series instead of 500 as they used to be.
